As part of our cost auditing services, we assess the reasonableness and necessity of investigation and cleanup expenses. We evaluate whether the releases of hazardous substances were sudden and accidental or expected and intentional and provide categorization of past and estimated future costs as investigation (defense), cleanup (indemnity), or other non-covered costs based on regulatory requirements. We also estimate future costs in order to support insurers with forecasting reserves and to inform potential cash-out settlement of claims.
