Public Utility Department Support

Farallon provided construction support for the City of Bellingham during replacement of a water main along a major arterial in the Fairhaven District of Bellingham. Farallon assisted the Public Utilities Department in developing bid specifications for contractors, which included provisions for the handling and disposal of petroleum-contaminated soil from an area containing numerous former and existing retail gasoline station and fuel distribution businesses. During the project, Farallon provided technical support for the characterization and sampling of suspected petroleum-contaminated soil that was generated during excavation activities, to enable classification of the material as re-useable construction fill or contaminated soil requiring regulated disposal.
