Cleanup receives an NFA, site ready for redevelopment
Long term clients trusted Farallon to provide a Cleanup Action Report (CAR) detailing the remediation efforts and findings for the former Rosehill Cleaners site in Kirkland, Washington. The site has a history of various businesses, including a gas station, then a dry cleaner that operated from the early 70s until a fire in 2018.
A comprehensive remedial investigation (RI) was conducted from 2011 to 2023 and identified chlorinated solvents in the soil and groundwater. Historical dry cleaning operations were confirmed as the source of contamination. The cleanup action involved several key steps to remediate the site effectively including demolition of existing structures, decommission of monitoring wells, a temporary dewatering system, and soil excavation.
The cleanup action successfully removed contaminated soil and improved groundwater quality. Confirmation soil sampling indicated compliance with Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and dewatering activities effectively reduced groundwater contamination. No further action is required for soil cleanup, and groundwater meets standards for non-potability.
The cleanup action met the requirements for human health and environmental protection, and the site received a No Further Action (NFA) determination. Our clients have minimal exposure to potential future environmental liability, and the site is ready for development.
