The City of Oak Harbor in Washington is taking bold steps to reimagine its historic waterfront by transforming underutilized, contaminated shoreline properties into a vibrant, walkable district that supports housing, recreation, and economic growth. As part of this transformative effort, Farallon is completing the Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study (RI/FS) for two city-owned parcels along Southwest Pioneer Way. This work will guide future cleanup and redevelopment decisions, laying the environmental foundation for a healthier shoreline and a thriving community hub.

Anchored by significant investment from the Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), the Waterfront District redevelopment is poised to reshape how residents and visitors experience Oak Harbor’s shoreline for generations to come. Farallon is proud to support the City of Oak Harbor in partnering with Ecology and the US EPA to work toward revitalizing one of Whidbey Island’s most valuable community assets.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce recently highlighted this exciting project: Oak Harbor moves forward on major waterfront remaking.
