Charitable Giving, Farallon Style

Throughout the year, Farallon offices help our communities via volunteer activities such as cleaning up roads and streams, marking storm drains, and sorting food and goods for charity agencies.  Farallon wrapped up 2016 with a month-long event that kicked off with an evening of volunteering at Eastside Baby Corner in Issaquah, Washington, was followed by a drive to collect diapers and blankets, and culminated in a company-wide campaign to benefit United Way.

Farallon holds a variety of United Way fund-raising events every fall.  Perennial favorites such as the chili cook-off and the bake sale provide opportunities for employees to enjoy food and one another's company in support of a good cause.  But the biggest United Way fundraiser by far is the silent auction that spans Farallon's nine offices.  Employees donate themed baskets of goods and services, and make bids by e-mail, WebEx, and telephone.  Intense bidding wars drive basket prices far beyond their worth, all in support of United Way programs.  The 2016 total raised by the silent auction was $2,395.

With the combined proceeds from the silent auction, unique events held in individual branch offices, and online donations, Farallon contributed nearly $6,000 to United Way in December 2016, with 92 percent participation.  Giving back to the communities we live in is a fundamental part of Farallon culture.  The annual United Way campaign is just one of many ways we honor that commitment.
