Manufacturing Plant
Farallon was contracted for technical support by an insurance carrier covering the investigation and cleanup of a widespread groundwater plume of trichloroethene (TCE) associated with multiple releases from a manufacturing plant in Vancouver, Washington. The contaminant plume extended beneath a residential neighborhood, posing a potential threat to potable water supply wells in the area and a vapor intrusion risk for nearby residences having a basement or subsurface crawl space. Technical assistance provided by Farallon included development of indoor air sampling procedures and installation of subslab depressurization systems for residences where concentrations of TCE posed a potential health risk. Farallon also attended public neighborhood association meetings where results from the indoor air sampling, investigation, and cleanup activity were presented. Successful negotiation of a settlement on behalf of the insurance carrier was reached.
