Tina was among the approximately 40 committee members who recently met in Miami to continue their work on ASTM standards under review for revision.  Attendees included Phase I environmental consultants; property lenders; real estate attorneys; and property developers, owners, managers, and insurers. As a participant on the Real Estate Assessment and Management subcommittee, Tina is involved in refining the Standard Practice for Assessment of Vapor Intrusion into Structures on Property Involved in Real Estate Transactions (ASTM E2600-08). The purpose of the current standard published in March 2008 is to define good commercial and customary practice for conducting a vapor intrusion assessment on a property parcel involved in a real estate transaction, with respect to chemicals of concern that may migrate as vapors into structures on a property due to contaminated soil and groundwater on the property or within close proximity to the property.

The subcommittee has begun the revision process for Standard ASTM E2600-08 and will respond to comments from the marketplace and legal community before publishing a revised edition in late 2009 or early 2010. Recent heightened awareness of vapor intrusion and its potential impacts underscores the importance and timeliness of ASTM focus on this standard.

As manager of Farallon’s due diligence program, Tina has conducted hundreds of environmental site assessments and compliance audits throughout the United States at sites ranging from single residences to large portfolios of properties for use by financial institutions, municipalities, and property developers and managers. Tina also assists facility owners and operators with environmental management and compliance for storage and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies with a specialization in Public Policy and Planning from the University of Colorado. Her professional certifications include Dangerous Waste Management, Washington State Environmental Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration Compliance, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) certification for asbestos, and AHERA Building Inspector Training. She also is a Registered Environmental Assessor for the State of California. Tina has been with Farallon since 2000.
