Farallon to Speak at Whatcom County Association of Realtors

Farallon founding partner and Principal Engineering Geologist Peter Jewett will be speaking at the Whatcom County Association of Realtors meeting in Bellingham, Washington on January 7, 2009.  His presentation on the environmental due diligence process will include tools to help minimize risk and provide protection from liability associated with contaminated properties.  The information presented will help realtors, attorneys, and real estate brokers develop a cost-effective approach to completing environmental due diligence for commercial and residential property.

Included in Mr. Jewett’s presentation will be a discussion of the requirements for evaluating and documenting environmental due diligence for property transactions.  The discussion will include ASTM International requirements, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency All Appropriate Inquiry guidelines, and how Washington State Model Toxics Control Act cleanup regulations interact with these guidelines.  Mr. Jewett also will relate his practical experience with the requirements of local and national lending institutions to the technical and legal aspects of conducting environmental due diligence.
