Mr. Kayhan is a recent graduate of Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Mr. Kayhan’s academic coursework included stratigraphy and sedimentation, geophysics, mapping, mineralogy, and advanced structural geology. Field study involved structural and advanced structural geology, active tectonics, and field method and theory throughout New Zealand and the western United States. He assisted New Zealand scientists on projects entailing trench logging, surveying using Real Time Kinematic GPS, and mapping. Mr. Kayhan also completed an internship as a Mining Geologist, which included core logging, ore sampling, assisting in drill location planning and tracking, and data quality control. In his role as a Staff Geologist with Farallon, Mr. Kayhan supports environmental site assessments and soil and groundwater sampling projects, and is involved in environmental monitoring projects at properties throughout the state of Washington.
Mr. Kayhan loves spending free time with friends and family, and enjoys rock hunting, target shooting, trying to golf, and geeking out with fellow WWU Geology alumni. He is passionate about football, having played the sport in college, and closely follows the Seahawks. Fall weekends are spent driving with friends to the east side of the state to attend EWU and WSU football games. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Mr. Kayhan holds the distinction of being the only Turkish-speaking member of the Farallon team.
