Anacortes Boatyard

Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
Active Boatyard, Anacortes, Washington
Farallon conducted a Phase I ESA at a boatyard operating under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Boatyard General Permit.  The 20-acre facility included a warehouse building, an asphalt-paved boat yard, two 12,000-gallon USTs, a floating fuel dock with three fuel dispensers, a hoist dock, and a boat washdown area.  Facility operations included boat  repair and maintenance, finishing, and painting.  During the site assessment, petroleum products, paints, primers, and paint thinners were observed at the facility, along with staining on gravel and asphalt surfaces near hazardous material and hazard waste storage areas.  Conditions identified during the Phase I ESA resulted in a remedial action and cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater at the facility.
