Environmental Due Diligence Presentation - Whatcom County
Mr. Peter Jewett spoke at the Whatcom County Association of Realtors meeting in Bellingham, Washington on January 7, 2009. His presentation on the environmental due diligence process included tools to help minimize risk and provide protection from liability associated with contaminated properties. The information presented was designed to help realtors, attorneys, and real estate brokers develop a cost-effective approach to completing environmental due diligence for commercial and residential property.
Included in Mr. Jewett’s presentation was a discussion of the requirements for evaluating and documenting environmental due diligence for property transactions. The discussion included ASTM International requirements, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency All Appropriate Inquiry guidelines, and how Washington State Model Toxics Control Act cleanup regulations interact with these guidelines. Mr. Jewett also related his practical experience with the requirements of local and national lending institutions to the technical and legal aspects of conducting environmental due diligence.
Peter D. Jewett is a Principal Engineering Geologist and founding Member of Farallon Consulting, an environmental consulting firm with offices in Issaquah and Bellingham, Washington. Mr. Jewett has over 25 years of experience in remediation engineering, environmental investigations, site assessments, and environmental due diligence.
